The Archer, a Robin Hood want to be, He stole from the rich and gave to himself. In the series, The archer was played by Art Carney.

" Now Head this, Im going to rob from the rich and give to the poor - How un-original "

The producers of the show decided in the second season, a big draw to the show would be to have a list of guest villains that were big name stars. Art was the first villain of the second series. He was already a big success at the time of the series. His most notable claim to fame was as Ed Norton of the Honeymooners. He was one of the regulars on the Jackie Gleason show up to the early 60's.

Writer Stanley Ralph Ross on Art Carney : " You had to tell Art who you want him to imitate. You say, I want you to imitate Cary Grant. He will do who he thinks is Cary Grant, but no one else will know it's Cary Grant."

Art went on after the show to appear in over forty more acting roles and also won an oscar for his role in the 1974 move Harry and Tonto.

As for his career, Carney is essentially retired, by design. His last on-screen role was in the 1993 film ``The Last Action Hero.'' ``I've got a few health problems. I want to stick close to home, though it's nothing life-threatening,'' he said. ``I enjoy being here with my wife (Jean). My kids are close by, and my six grandchildren.''
