In episodes # 77 - Penguin Sets A Trend and # 78 - Penguin's Disastrous End, There was a General McGruder who was taken in by Penguin to his dismay. The actor Alan Reed was the general.

 

Alan was an actor but he also was much more than a pretty face, he had a very famous voice also. He started out as a radio announcer in 1930's. He mastered 21 different foreign accents and went on to be a radio star appearing on shows such as The Fred Allen Show, Pasquale on Life with Luigi, Mr. Clyde, My Friend Irma among many others. Now you might be thinking hmm.... I dont think I know who he is. Listen to this clip from Batman and see if it sounds familiar-

Fred Flinstone

 

 

Ahh He was the voice of Fred Flintstone ! He also was credited with the creation of the phrase- Yabba Dabba Do for the show ! He appeared on screen quite a few times in addition to his stint on the cartoon scene.

His health began to fail in the early 70's and he passed away June 14 1977 in
