Doodles Weaver was certainly a character. He started his show business career out of college as a radio personality with radio personalities at the time such as Rudee Vallee (Also Lord Fogg on Batman).
He
specialized in crazy sports commentary spoofs and later joined Spike
Jones and his orchestra which was known for their zany antics. He
toured with the band until the early 50's. He did voice over work and
was a very early TV guest
on
many shows. In the 60's he recorded a ton of silent comedy shorts
titled " A Day
With
Doodles" that aired on many kids shows at the time. In addition
to Batman, he was a guest on many popular TV shows such as Bonanza,
Dragnet, The Hathaways, The Andy Griffith Show, The Dick
Van Dyke Show and Dennis the Menace.

related to Pat Weaver the former president of NBC and was
the uncle
of Sigourney
Weaver. His later life was sad in the fact that in January of 1983,
Winstead "Doodles" Weaver was found in his Burbank
California home dead from a self inflicted gunshot wound. There was
no suicide note but recent diary entries at the time indicated that
Doodles had many health problems that caused him to take his own
life, alcohol seemed to be a great factor in his downfall. Up to the
end he was always super to his fans, he even allowed his phone number
to be published in the Burbank phone book.
