# 17- True or False Face

 # 18 - Holy Rat Race.

A bit of background information, When I started doing research on Miss Fahey, I kept running into a brick wall. I could find no information on her life at all. What I did find is that she passed away very young in 1973 and that was about all. This got my curiosity up on what happened to her. I would like to thank The Bangor Daily News , Sue Wennrich and The Bangor Maine Public Library, Bill Capello, Stephen G. Burrill, Supt.of the Mt. Hope Cemetery Bangor ME, for going out of their way to help in my endeavor to document her life. They really went out of their way to help, and I surely appreciate it. Another note of Thanks to Dave Brockman for providing the screen captures from Perry Mason of her. He has an awesome site Perry Mason TV - Check it out !

Myrna Fahey's life was a Cinderella story. She was born in 1933 in Carmel Maine, a small town about 12 miles from Bangor Maine. She attended Pemetic high school in Southwest Harbor ME where she was a cheerleader and a good student who was engaged in many extracurricular activities. She won a part in a She appeared in " I Died a Thousand Times in 1955 with " Ma Barker" - Shelley Wintersschool play and decided to go into acting. She stated something " in the back of her mind" made her decide to become an actress. She graduated high school at the age of seventeen and dropped the bomb on her parents that she wanted to go to Hollywood to become an actress. in addition to acting , she was involved in many beauty contests, was a runner up in the Miss Maine contest in 1952 and her biggest achievement was the runner up of " Miss Rheingold " in 1956. A bit of info on that, as I was born in 1963 I had never heard of " Miss Rheingold" because the contest ended in 1963 but the contest was a huge achievement, The Beer company, , started the contest in 1938 and later on the contestants were voted on from a booklet. During it's heyday, the contest was the second largest public election in the United States. Ok so much for that. Myrna set out for Hollywood. Due to her age ( and I would assume her parents insistence) she "The Story on Page One" -1959was accompanied by two family friends, Mr and Mrs John Butler to California. She went to the land of opportunity and enrolled in Pasadena In "The House Of Usher" 1960Playhouse.She worked at the playhouse for a year and started doing TV commercials. Her first big break came in a TV show called " Matinee Theater" after that she became pretty busy appearing in " Wagon Train", Bonanza, Perry Mason, Thriller and a few more. In 1959 she received her big break, she costarred with Tony Franciosa in " The Story on Page One" Then in 1960 she starred as Vincent Price's sister in " House of Usher" a film version of the Edgar Allen Poe tale. In 1961, she hit the Tube as one of the stars in the CBS sitcom " Father of the Bride" at TV Guide 1961 in " Father of the Bride "the age of 22. The series lasted one year.

In an interview she stated, " Theres supposed to be an extreme ambivalence in everyone, If you are extremely nice, you want to be bad, and vice versa. Im kind of in the middle of the road." She went on to say, " I have moral overtones" "What I like is a part like Scarlett O'Hara in 'Gone With The Wind' she had spirit,temper- but I wont say what she was"

Myrna was often compared to Elizabeth Taylor in looks and she was a beauty to say the least. 1960 was a very busy year for her in TV, I found credits for 12 different TV shows and at this point her appearances started to drop off- one in 1962, two in 1963, one in 1964, three in 1965,

In 1966 she was in Batman as Blaze and in an episode of Perry Mason, and she finished her on screen performances with a 1967 appearance on Time Tunnel and the western, Rango. It appears this is where her career ended.

From what I had read, she had been fighting cancer for some time before she lost her fight in 1973. She had never married but I had read stories about her being courted quite heavily. So ends my search for the history on a Hollywood Star. May she rest in peace.
